My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Barbara Jean! This very special friend is almost a year old with a whole exciting life ahead of her. She has a little bit of catching up to do to be the confident, silly girl we know she can be, but with a little bit of patience and support, we are confident BJ will make a wonderful addition to your family. Barbara Jean has spent a couple of weeks in a foster home where we have learned that she’s a sensitive girl who finds a lot of things overwhelming or scary, but with the right support from her people and a couple of helper dog foster siblings, she can really blossom. She is an expert toy de-stuffer, is easily in the top 5 fastest dogs of all time, and loves to cuddle up for a good snooze after an afternoon of romping with her dog friends. We think BJ would do best in a home with a confident dog friend by her side.

Barbara Jean is currently in a foster home. If you’d like to learn more about her, please reach out to us! We’d love to talk with you about her. Email NEASfoster@mspca.org to get the conversation started.

Additional adoption info

Come in during open hours 11:30am-5pm if you see an animal you are interested in adopting!

Our Northeast Animal Shelter(NEAS) location also allows you to submit an inquiry online prior to visiting the shelter. Submitting an inquiry is not a hold, reservation, or guarantee on an animal adoption, it just gives NEAS a bit more information on you and allows staff to email you additional information on our adoption process.

We ask that you be in a position to adopt the day you visit with an animal. Our goal with adoption is to find a great match and have the animal stay in care for the least amount of time possible.

See www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/ for more information on adopting from the MSPCA-Angell Northeast Animal Shelter.

More about this shelter

Northeast Animal Shelter, established in 1976, is now part of the MSPCA-Angell, giving us a better opportunity to serve our community, provide additional life-saving programs and services, and protect more animals from cruelty and neglect.

Our adoption program is designed to be welcoming, nonjudgmental, and free of lengthy applications. We strive to engage all prospective adopters in a conversation aimed at matching an adopter’s lifestyle, interests and home environment with an animal’s personality, medical and behavioral needs. Adopting an animal is an extraordinary opportunity to choose your newest family member. At the MSPCA it is a great privilege for our staff and volunteers to guide that journey for adopters and animals.
