My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Freyja is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match!

Freyja and her four siblings were born in rural Texas and raised mostly outside on the streets, with only each other and their mom for company. Mom was a gorgeous husky who sadly became very sick, which was discovered after a good samaritan trapped mom and her pups to get them out of the elements. The vet discovered that mom had cancer, and a local rescuer reached out to us about helping her pups. We knew when we committed to taking them in that they had been through a lot and were pretty under-socialized with people. While they are still quite shy, we are so proud of how far they have all come in less than two weeks!

Each pup wound up in a loving foster home! Freyja lives with a couple and their three dogs and a cat. Freyja is doing great with housebreaking and will for the most part alert her fosters when she has to go out. She also does well in her crate! One thing that is important to note about Freyja is that she doe sneed to go to a home with another dog. She is more comfortable with dogs than humans, and she needs that companionship to help her blossom in the critical next few months of her development.

Her foster mom writes, "Meet Freyja, a bundle of joy! This shy, but energetic pup adores her canine companions and comes alive when playtime begins. Whether she's carrying sticks across the yard, engaging in spirited games of chase, or wrestling with her furry friends, Freyja knows how to have a good time. With her quick agility, she has the potential to master a backyard obstacle course with a bit of training. As a young puppy, Freyja is still learning the ropes, so a patient and loving approach will help her flourish. Freyja is the perfect match for you!

Bear's adoption fee is $400. This animal is spayed and up to date on core vaccines appropriate for their age. They will need a Heartworm test between 6-7 months of age.
