Lucy… I’m home! Just like her namesake, Lucy, the Great Pyrenees, is always happy and ready to greet everyone with her big smile and friendly personality! This gorgeous lady, surrendered to rescue with her 5-month-old daughter, is the total package. Lucy has an abundance of love to offer and can always be counted on to greet people with a smile, offering her paw; other dogs with a tail wag, and is ever so gentle with the kitties. She has not been around children, but with her smaller size and gentle personality we can’t imagine she wouldn’t be great! She loves to be in the middle of everything and would shine in a home with a stay-at-home parent, worker, or retiree looking for a side kick. Lucy is a smart pup, and therefore must have a strong, secure fenced yard with a locked gate, as she will be chief inspector and find any structural weaknesses. A male doggy companion would be great, but Lucy would also do fine as an only dog with a person around all the time. She loves to lean into her person and go exploring so a home without a fence with a dedicated leash walk person(s) would be ok too. Lucy’s perfect home will need to be filled with plenty of attention and a family that’s often home, or takes her with them. Her world is complete when she gets to spend time with her people—always giving a big smile in return.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
