My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks

Date into Rescue:  09/04/24
Reason for being in rescue:  Transferred in from a local humane society. He was found in May as a stray very matted and uncared for
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Kenny is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Kenny is a doodle. His non poodle side is a guess.  He could be any number of the doodle breeds.  He is mostly poodle and he is very, very low shedding.  He will need regular grooming just like a poodle.  We cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic.
Weight: 50 lbs est
Height: 24 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Adoption Fee: $599

Fence needed? Yes Kenny requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller.

What kind of home would be best for me? One with experience. One with patience and kindness as fast movements scare Kenny. One with other very gentle dogs, preferably poodles or doodles. A fenced in yard for sure.  Someone home would be great but as long as there is a check-in mid day and another dog to hang out with, he would be ok with someone who works. No very young children under 10 please.  He is nervous and little humans are often loud and boisterous.  Kenny likes life serene.

What is my personality like? Kenny is a sweet and gentle boy. Spending some of his life on the streets has taught Kenny a reserved determination. Preferring to take things slow and gage his next move with cautiously sure-footed steps Kenny takes his days through life seeking the guidance of a strong-willed family. He plays well with other dogs and loves interacting with them. Big or small, canine or feline, he loves them all.

Kenny looks at the world with the best intentions in mind and he holds hope that there is a little bit of good in everything. Kenny needs some help building a stronger line of confidence, his determination will get him far in life, but he does need some help building resolve. Kenny is a smart boy and ready to learn all of his basic queues, he is ready for life as someone pet and would love a soft guiding hand there.

Kenny is calm in a crate, though does get excited when he knows it is time to go outside. Kenny walks well on a leash but needs encouragement when it comes to confidence on the lead. He follows much better than he leads and requires another dog in the home to find his safe space and fortitude. Kenny would love children but would first need to get used to the excitement of them. Once he understood this, we could see Kenny right there beside them ready to go to the baseball game and get ice cream after. He would just need time to work up to this, but Kenny's resilience is beautiful.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Kenny greets people with a sparing kindness. He will offer himself slowly, with a small hunkering wag of his tail. Approaching him with a softness is key. Once you have broken through his hesitation he is glued to you. Kenny craves a family that will love him always and deeply.

Other tips and tidbits: Kenny was found as a stray, so we have absolutely no history on him. He is young.  We are estimating his birthday as 6/11/23.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
