My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Walter was born about September 18, 2023 and weighs about 30 lbs.  He sure is one gorgeous color of red and although he very much appears to be a standard Doxie he does have a slight resembles of a Vizsla - don't you think?  Somehow this boy ended up wandering around the city of Buffalo by himself and landed in the Buffalo city shelter!  When no one came looking for him it was determined that he was abandoned and the city shelter suffering from a shortage of cages graciously handed him over to a Joyful Rescues volunteer.   Walter was very calm and quiet with a softly swaying tail when we visited his kennel.  He made the two hour journey to the main site wonderfully quiet in the crate and met a couple of new doggie pals getting out of the car and that went very well.  Then there was one of the feral cats in the driveway and that didn't go so well so no kitties in his forever home.  He is very strong on leash so he's not going to be a good fit for a wimpy human or one that wants to take leisurely strolls.  I envision him, and his forever human, happiest with a decent sized fenced in yard for him to get some activity and fresh air.  Well, he's only been here a day and this is all we know so far and we'll update as we learn more about this long, low, little guy!  Welcome Walter!
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_500.00_.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.

Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.

YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES

We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
