My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Schmidt is a lovable pup who may start off a little nervous, but don't let that deter you, he's eager to win you over! Much like the stylish and charming character from New Girl, Schmidt has a such a lovable personality!

Once Schmidt feels comfortable, you'll discover a loyal companion who loves to snuggle and show off his playful side! With a bit of patience and understanding, he'll transform into the confident goofball you've always wanted. This sweet pup is looking for a loving home where he can feel safe and secure, just like the friends in the loft. If you're ready to help him build his confidence and create a bond filled with love and laughter, Schmidt is the perfect match for you.

So why wait? Open your heart to Schmidt, and let the adventures begin!

~ Schmidt is a high energy pup looking for an active home that will be able to take him on lots of adventures once he is comfortable
~ Schmidt can be on the shy / nervous side and will need his new family to be patient and take things slow with him
~ He is looking for a single person, couple or family with children that have previously lived with a large dog
~ He will need to be signed up for training prior to going into his fur-ever home to help him learn some of his basic manners and help with socialization

Regularly Exhibited Behaviours Noticed:

Explanation of Behaviours:
- Schmidt is an active and high-energy dog that will need lots of daily exercise and enrichment.

- A adult only home or a home with adults and children who have previously lived with a large breed dog
- Regular grooming

Training needs/behaviours that need to be worked with for this dog:
- Socialization

- Basic manners
- Confidence building

**For more information on any behaviours stated above, please check out our behaviour fact sheet: https://kwsphumane.ca/BehavioursandDefinitions

**Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.

Additional adoption info

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
