Here's what the humans have to say about me:
2 year old, cute as a button, hound-mix, Aladdin, is searching for his forever home.
He's neutered and microchipped.
10 days ago, Aladdin and other dogs were flown in from a shelter in Asheville. Our family has been fostering this INCREDIBLY LOVING and Spunky fellow for 9 of those days. As far as temperament goes, you could not ask for a better boy. I mean that. He's amazing with people of all ages, cats, and other dogs as well. My guess is that he weighs in around 40 pounds of pure muscle. He's not a heavy dog but seems so fit and healthy. He's energetic, yet looooves to relax and be stroked on the couch. Behaves like a dream in the car. He is still a moderately active chewer but with toys and the like, he's good to go. He does wonderfully in our large crate with a dog bed and toys. I've only heard him bark one time. I'm not sure how this is possible with a hound mix, but he definitely is not an active barker. His ears are so floppy and soft. It's an instant stress reliever when he's ready to settle down and have his ears and tummy rubbed. I've clipped his nails and they are light in color and easy to do at home.
Over the last eight days, I have trained him to walk on a leash using a gentle leader. He pulls way too hard with a chest harness. I will gladly pass his gentle leader (face harness) on to whomever adopts him. He's made tremendous progress.
Aladdin has been through quite a few foster homes. Not because of his temperament, but because of his energy I believe. He's not always hyper but he gets happy and shows his joy through bopping around. It's adorable, really.
Important****the home that would suit him best would include the following:
A fenced backyard and another dog to play with. If he would be the only dog, he would still do best with a fenced backyard to jump, run and play. He loves to play (and sniff around!) and has the funniest and most endearing personality. Seriously, not a mean bone in his body. So sweet.
We do not have a fenced backyard and I have spent A LOT of time with this pup and training him to walk more politely with a leash. Weird fact, he takes quite a while to have a bowel movement outside on a leash. Another bonus for a fenced backyard. He actually loves going on walks and seems eager to follow his hound nose. If you don't have a fenced backyard and you like to walk and hike, Aladdin would make an incredible companion. Did I mention his tenderness and how sweet he is? Just wanted to make sure.
We've called him a house-hound. Likes the outdoors and the indoors too!
He's so special and deserves a family with a heart for a sweet rescue dog.
