For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Musketeer came to CVHS because his owner recognized the previous home was not the right environment for him, and he would benefit from a new home.
When he first arrived, he was very scared, but he has been coming out of his shell, and we are seeing what a playful and goofy boy he is! He lived with a small dog in his previous home, and tolerated that dog pestering him; we think he'd prefer to live with a dog closer to his size and energy level. Musketeer loves kids, but with his lack of body awareness, and his skittishness about unexpected noises and fast movements, he would do best with calm, quiet, older kids. He has not been exposed to cats.
Musketeer is working on his leash manners, and doing well not pulling when wearing a harness. His previous owner reported that he's crate trained, and relaxed nicely in his crate.
Musketeer may need multiple visits from an interested adopter before he's comfortable enough to go home with them.
A 5-week Good Manners training course, or a private consultation with a behavior specialist, is included in Musketeer's $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Musketeer.
