My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Dumplin`!

Dumplin’ has had quite a journey and is so ready to move in with her forever family!

Dumplin’ was pulled out of a septic/sewer vent pipe on 6/20/24. She was admittedly terrified when she arrived and needed a lot of supportive care and wound care. She had soft tissue swelling of right pelvic limb with associated puncture wounds and tissue necrosis, as well as a wound on the ventral aspect of her tail. While being treated for her injuries at the shelter, she came out of her shell and developed a strong bond with our medical staff.

Dumplin’ was on track for adoption, but then developed lesions on her ears and feet. She unfortunately had ringworm, but the foster team was able to find a foster willing to do treat her. The treatment is ringworm is long and involves unpleasant, smelly baths, but Dumplin’ did great the whole time! She is now free of ringworm!

Dumplin’ loves to play! She enjoys chasing fuzzy mice toys and will bring them back to you to throw again. She also loves wand toys, but sometimes she’ll get out of breath and begin to pant. You’ll need to give her a break to catch her breath, even if she doesn’t think she needs it! When she’s not busy playing, Dumplin’ enjoys napping (we often found her asleep in the bathroom sink!) or calmly keeping you company. Don’t be surprised if you catch her staring at you with her big, curious eyes—she’ll make the cutest little trills if she feels like your phone is getting more attention than she is. We sometimes turned on “cat tv” for her since the room she was fostered in didn’t have a window. She’s so excited to do real bird watching in her new home!

Dumplin’ is affectionate and has a cuddling quirk. When she’s deep in a cuddling trance, she’ll curl up and begin to knead and nuzzle her belly. The behavior has decreased a little, so it might be something she grows out of. But just like how some cats knead or nurse on blankets, this is what Dumplin’ does when she’s in the snuggle zone. After she gets it out of her system, she’ll calmly snooze next to you. Giving her an extra fluffy blanket to focus on kneading can help. If you gently rub her belly, she might even stretch out and happily purr herself to sleep.

She can be a little shy with new people or unfamiliar surroundings, but warms up quickly if you just give her a bit of time and space! She’s likes both wet and dry food, but she hasn’t been a big fan of seafood fla
