My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you been trying to persuade your partner that you absolutely need another dog? Every time you drop the hint, they hit you with their arsenal of logic: "We don't have the room!" or "We have enough dogs!" Well, you may not win the epic battle for a polar bear sidekick, but you just might secure the victory with Lena! She’s like the perfect compromise: adorable, snuggly, and way less likely to take up the majority of your couch and bed than an actual polar bear! 🐻‍❄️

You see, Lena is the best of both worlds! She’s a calm and sweet girl—so well-behaved that you might just forget you have her for a few days. Seriously, your partner could walk right past her and think you’ve been home alone! And let’s talk about the fact that she’s a “pocket Pyr.” No, you can’t actually fit her in your pocket (thank goodness, because good luck keeping track of a dog that tiny—talk about high maintenance!). What “pocket-sized” really means is that she’s got all the looks and personality of a Great Pyrenees but is a sleek 48 lbs. Sure, she might be a little on the thin side and could stand to gain a couple of pounds, but let’s be real: once you get her in the door, she’s not going anywhere. She's too sweet, too well-mannered, and just too downright amazing to let slip away!

It’s hard to believe, but someone actually let this sweet girl go. For those of you who’ve been following our Shark Week Litter—Reef, Spinner, and Tiger—we have a sneaking suspicion that Lena might be their mom. She was “found” in the same area just a few weeks after her potential pups were rescued, along with another one of her babies who happily found a home through the shelter. Despite being abandoned and ending up in a shelter, Lena has clung to her sweet and loving nature like a lifebuoy in a storm. If she could fix all the world’s problems, she’d do it with nothing but love and understanding. She doesn’t dwell on her past or the unfortunate hand she was dealt; instead, she chooses to be her authentic self every single day. Now that she’s finally found a place filled with love, she knows this is the moment she’s been waiting for her whole life.

Lena is good with other dogs and cats. She is learning how fun it can be to play with them but also isn't interested in taking it to the extreme. You know the kind of dog(s) I am talking about. The ones that are constantly pestering their siblings begging for them to play and always trying to bring some "life" and energy to the household. Nope, that isn't Lena. Sure, she loves a good wrestling session as much as the next dog, but as soon as she is done...she is perfectly happy to take a snooze and relax. So, while she would do well with other dogs in the home she isn't dependent on them and we feel she could also rock the solo dog life. Lena gets along splendidly with the cats in her foster home, barely giving them a second glance. Their high-and-mighty attitudes? Totally lost on her! She’s much more interested in spending time with those who genuinely want her company. Lena hasn't had the chance to meet any kids yet, but given her sweet and gentle nature, we have no doubt she’d excel at visiting retirement homes or schools to spread some love and joy! With her calming presence and lovable personality, Lena is sure to charm everyone she encounters—whether they’re energetic kids, adults, or even our wise and cherished elders. She’s a natural at making friends, and her warmth is bound to bring smiles all around!

Are you the kind of person who loves to unwind at home but occasionally gets hit with a burst of energy that makes you want to venture out? Perhaps a jaunt to your favorite café or a leisurely stroll through the park? Well, say goodbye to being the awkward loner—because Lena is ready to be your perfect sidekick! While she may lean toward the calmer side, Lena will thrive on these outings with her family. We can easily picture her lounging gracefully at your feet as you enjoy a good book at the café, or strutting her stuff in the park, effortlessly turning heads and winning hearts with her charm and elegance. Say goodbye to solitude and hello to shared experiences with your new favorite companion! The best part? Even if you need to hop in the car to get where you're going, just give Lena a little lift, and she’s ready for the adventure! She’ll happily settle into the back seat, ready to chill and soak up the scenery as you cruise along. Now, before you start feeling a wave of anxiety at the thought of constantly heading out and leaving your beloved home, let me reassure you—Lena is just as happy being a cozy homebody! This delightful girl doesn’t ask for much; all she really wants is a companion to share her days with and the occasional treat shared from your plate. After all, who could resist those pleading puppy eyes? 😉

If you live in an apartment, I am sure your eyes have been glued to this post eagerly skimming to find this part right here...would she thrive in an apartment setting or not? The answer to your question is...drum roll please....yes...yes she would. Now, just like anything in life...you will need to work on some things with her. She hasn't had all that much experience going on leashed walks yet so that is something you would have to be ready to work with her on. She is pretty quiet in the house, so we don't think she would react to all the crazy sounds that can be heard in an apartment setting...but she is starting to sing the song of her people when outside...sharing with the neighborhood that she is the valiant protector of her fosters backyard. So, if you don't live in an apartment and have close neighbors...its something to keep in mind...because she will happily alert them as well to any silly antics or plots being made by sneaky grasshoppers and stealth squirrels. When it comes to house manners, Lena is on her game with potty training, provided she sticks to a good routine. For a gal just experiencing indoor life for the first time, she's adjusting remarkably well. It’s no wonder, really, considering her main goal in life appears to be making everyone around her happy—she's just THAT AWESOME! And guess what? She’s also starting to wrap her head around what a kennel is, and she's becoming quite the pro at feeling comfy in there.

Now, I know some of you aren't fans of having dogs on the couch, and in that case...Lena probably isn't the girl for you. While she would probably come to accept your rules, one of her favorite things in this world is getting to climb on the couch and be with her people. Toys aren't really her thing...but then again...she probably has no experience with them so maybe in time she will pick one up and you can eagerly call your partner, best friend, or even parents to share the news that she finally picked up a toy! But for now, don’t hold your breath waiting for her to fetch anything. The only way that toy is making its way back to you is if you’re off chasing after it, with Lena dutifully trotting behind as your ever-faithful sidekick, silently judging your life choices while you ponder why you just made more work for yourself. 😉 Lena has absolutely no interest in your stinky shoes or munching on your fancy Gucci bag. She’s a trustworthy gal when it comes to your belongings! But food? Oh, now that’s a different tale. If there's anything tantalizingly dangling from the counter, just begging for a “little” taste, consider it fair game!

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to have a miniature woolly mammoth in your living room, let me introduce you to the wonder of Pyr shedding. If you’re asking, “Do they shed?” let me save you the suspense: YES. They shed like confetti at a New Year’s Eve party, and you’ll be finding their fluff in places you didn’t even know existed. Your furniture? A hair magnet. Your clothes? Congratulations, you now have a fabulous new fur accessory! So, if you’re not ready to embrace the idea of a “furry lifestyle,” or think you can outsmart a Pyr's shedding abilities, well, you might be barking up the wrong tree. So, if you’re ready to open your heart and home to a sweet, fluffy companion who will shower you with love (and perhaps a bit of fur), Lena is just waiting to charm her way into your life! Whether you’re an active family looking for a hiking buddy or someone who loves the idea of a snuggly couch potato, Lena’s ready to adapt to your lifestyle. Don’t miss your chance to welcome this remarkable girl into your family—adopt Lena, and let the adventures (and cuddles!) begin! 🌟🐾
