For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
From his foster: Drake is very sweet boy who loves being pet and hanging out with his humans. He is calm and quiet and will enjoy his alone time when left alone, but will follow you around if you're home for head scratches.
Drake was a breeder release which means that he is still learning how to 'dog' in a few ways and could use some socialization and training. He doesn't know commands like "sit" or "come" but will come and sit if guided to or encouraged. He is still learning how to use stairs but has been great with elevators. He also does not take much interest in dog toys and seems more confused in how to play with them.
Drake has been excellent with meeting new people and dogs. He is not initially 'enthusiastic' but will be interested and calm when meeting. From his previous foster, he has done well with other dogs in the house and seemed to not mind the cat. He does take some time to warm up to new people and new locations and will hesitate with new experiences, but allows you to pick him up and move him around without protest.
Drake would fit well into a home that is willing to take time to earn his trust for his full personality to come out. He will need some training and socialization, and may benefit from a role-model dog (or dog friends) to show him how to play, use stairs, etc. He does well with younger kids from those he has met as he is very gentle. He is potty trained and has alerted me when needing to go outside, but will need to learn new associations in a new home.
He is still learning stairs, so will need more training or a model dog brother/sister if you have stairs in your home. He has done well with elevators and seems not to mind them.

More about this rescue
The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.
We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.
You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
