My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Troy! I'm from Arkansas. I'm a 3 year old, 25 pound terrier mix. I'm a happy boy who gets along well with other dogs. I'm crate trained, too! I am getting ready for my big move to Minnesota - can you help me find my forever family when I arrive?

From his foster: Troy is a sweet and snuggly dog who's ready to steal your heart! Despite having an injured leg, this curious pup doesn't let anything hold him back. He loves exploring his surroundings and is always eager to join you for some quality cuddle time. He is incredibly sweet and very outgoing when meeting new people.

Troy thrives on love and affection, making him the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loyal friend. He always wants to be where his people are, but he also seems to do fine when we leave. We haven't seen any signs of separation anxiety.
While he gets along well with our resident dog and enjoys playtime, he would likely do best as an only dog so he can soak up all the attention he craves. He would also do best in a home with limited stairs.

He's crate trained and potty trained when a regular schedule. He is also highly motivated by food, which will help as he continues learning new things.

From the Vet:
Hi! I'm Troy and my new friends at TBB have some updates about my medical care going forward. I was seen for an exam at TBB Vet Center and the veterinarian says I have a ruptured ligament (CCL) in my right rear leg. This means I will need a specialty orthopedic surgery called a TPLO to repair this injury. TBB will cover the surgery with a round of pain medications associated with the surgery as well as one recheck appointment with radiographs 8 weeks post surgery. During this exam it was also noted that I have an ear infection that is being treated with a long lasting medication that just sits in my ears so my foster/adopter should not clean my ears until the recheck appointment for this concern has been completed. Surprisingly there was an incidental finding that I may have some battle wounds; there was some buckshot found in my leg, but likely I won't need this to be addressed separately from the surgery we already have pending. I hope to meet lots of new people and settle into my forever home while I complete this much needed medical care!

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
