My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Alvin! He is a four year old mix (maybe Irish Wolf Hound?), weighing in at a sturdy and strong 65lbs, he is a solid hunk of love.

Alvin was a stray and was passed around a bit, so he’s looking for a committed person who will love him forever. Alvin is very friendly with all people, but due to his natural strength he would fit best in a home with older children and sturdy adults. Alvin loves toys so much! (Tug of war, fetch, find the squeeker and rip it out!) he destroys them all, but is very mindful to not destroy anything else. He loves to go on walks, he’s ok on leash especially considering his strength, and is pretty good off leash but can get distracted. Alvin knows a few basic commands but could easily be taught more.

Some huge perks with Alvin is that he’s fully potty trained, he doesn’t shed, he’s easy to groom, and he loves a full body snuggle, especially at night. Alvin is not crate trained, and would prefer to sleep being spooned all night long.

Some of Alvin’s struggles are ripping all toys to shreds, begging for people food, and occasionally resource guarding toys and food from other dogs (not people). Alvin would be best as a solo dog in a family. Alvin will need a fully fenced backyard.

Alvin is neutered, micro chipped and up to date on his shots and waiting for his forever home. If you are ready to meet this pawesome guy, please fill out a SOI at https://alternativehumanesociety.com/statement-of-interest-dog/
