My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This Loyal Amiga is Ready for a New Chapter!

¡Hola! I’m Xochi, a 1.5-year-old, 45 lb Terrier mix. I started my journey just south of the border in Rosarito. I may not be fluent in Spanish, but I’m definitely fluent in cuddles and playtime! After raising my six adorable puppies, I’m ready to find my own furever home.

I’m a bit of a work in progress when it comes to other dogs and cats, so for now, it’s best if I’m your one and only. I used to enjoy hanging out with kids, but I’m working through this transitional time, and I need a home with older teens or young adults who can understand my need for space. Once I get to know you, I’m as loyal as they come! I do need slow introductions with strangers when they come home.

My pawfect day? It starts with a leisurely walk away from too much hustle and bustle. I’m currently reactive toward other dogs when I’m on leash and I’m working on redirection. My daily stroll would be followed by some quality TV time while I chew on a toy. I’m house and bathroom trained, and I don’t mind hanging out solo, but I’d rather be near you. Even if you’re working, I’ll just chill close by. I love kicking back to relax, watching the world from the porch or balcony. I am currently eat Purina Pro Plan Vet Diet HA.

If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal girl with a touch of spice, I might just be the one for you. I’ve been through a lot in my little life and have so much love to give. I’d love to find a furever home where I can continue my training. I pawmise to give you my whole heart in return! Let’s make mañana our new beginning!

My adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
