Hi. My name is Marco and here is some info about me:
Breed: Miniature Austrailian Shepherd
Age: 1 Year
Gender: Male
Weight:40 lb
Height: 15 inch
Highlight(s): Good with other dogs, people, needs slow introduction to men
Hello there! My name is Marco, and I am a 1-year-old miniature Australian Shepherd.
I am a medium (40 lb) Aussie Shephard with a heart full of love and a gentle, sweet nature. Let me tell you a bit about my journey. I was bought as a puppy by a family who wanted a guard dog.
Unfortunately, they didn’t realize just how small I would be. When they saw that I wasn’t going to grow into a large protector, they abandoned me in front of a shelter.
It broke my heart to see my family leave me behind, but I try to stay positive. I am grateful to have a roofover my head and a safe place to stay, especially since the streets where I come from are dangerous for smaller dogs like me.
I’ve been living with my foster for almost 2 mos. She takes me to the park every day where I build my confidence and social skills playing with other dogs. I’m getting used to strangers petting me and their affection makes my days brighter. Because I’m a little bit shy and unsure of myself, I can be nervous around fasting moving bikes or skateboards, sometimes joggers…..but I am improving every day – my mom tells me when to be “nice” and I’m a very good listener. I need her guidance to make sure that I
behave appropriately, and she tells me when I’m doing a good job. I love it when my foster mom talks to me very softly and strokes my face – I just melt.
I am submissive with other dogs. My mom is training me not to have any resource guarding and to sit nicely for my treats. I recentlymoved into my mom’s bed for sleep time. I love to cuddle but then I like to go to my own bed. I am very sensitive to my environment, and I like to live in a peaceful home. I just want to spread
happiness with doggie kisses and joyful tail wags. I dream of having my very own forever family someday, one that will love and care for me as much as I will for them.
I imagine myself with my own bed, squeaky toys, and going on fun walks and hikes. Please consider giving me a chance - I promise to fill your life with love and joy. My heart is big, and I’m ready to share it with my forever family. I can’t wait to meet you!
Energy Level: medium - requires daily walks.
I get along with:
Dogs: yes
Cats: Unknown
Kids: unknown.
Fears: Unknown/none observed, however requires slow introduction to men. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.
Training: yes/ basic, please be patient with me. I am a very fast learner and given the opportunity, I will learn all the tricks there is in no time.
Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training me.

Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.
Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.

As adopters of overseas dogs will be taking their dog home from the airport, they have a couple of weeks to decide if the dog is a fit.
