My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT

Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes
Good with kids: Yes, dog savvy children
Crate trained: Yes
House Trained: Yes

Declan is a goofy, friendly pup who’s ready to go on many adventures with his forever family! He has medium-energy, where loves to run around and play with his toys then crash hard for a nap after. Declan is looking for patient owners who are dedicated setting him up for success and continuing his training.

He is a social butterfly and he makes human, canine, and feline friends everywhere he goes. Declan is fostered in a multi-dog household and does best with playmates of similar energy. He is continuing to learn cues and manners from other dogs and would be fine with or without a canine sibling. Declan interacted well with cats down south and has largely ignored them. Because he is excited to meet all the humans- kids and adults alike, he would do best with dog-savvy kids who can give him a little extra space and time to get to know him.

Declan may enjoy learning new tricks and training, as he is food-motivated and eager to please. He is fully crate-trained and house-trained. He is crated throughout the day and overnight without any issues. Declan enjoys his meals and chewing on his bone in the crate. He has had zero accidents since coming north and does great when taken out on a regular schedule and routine. He is learning his leash manners and will improve with time and experience. Declan is an all-around good pup with a youthful spirit, so he would benefit from owners who can work on his training and provide structure and boundaries as he navigates his new environment.

You’ll never have a dull moment with his zest for life- is he the next addition to your family?

More about this rescue

Our mission at Last Hope K9 Rescue is to save every possible dog we can from being euthanized within high-volume kill shelters throughout the U.S.

As the literal “last hope” of nearly every animal we serve, we work tirelessly to place each one within a stable, loving environment that can act as either their forever home, or the gateway to their forever home. We also strive to ensure that all of our adoptions and foster placements are the optimal fit for everyone involved, including our dogs. This leads to our second goal: enriching human lives through canine companionship. To us, you can’t have one without the other.

Lastly, we promote animal welfare by lobbying important initiatives that both protect and give voice to the voiceless. By fostering an environment of collaboration with other organizations that share our goals, and working together instead of in competition, we find that we accomplish more.
