Hi! My name is Poppy and me and several of my friends are all looking for forever homes. We were all surrendered to a small rescue by a backyard breeder who stated she was not able to care for us any longer due to family obligations. A volunteer with that rescue reached out to BCAA to see if they could help us and they said yes! We were all pretty confused and scared when we first came into foster but with patience and TLC from our foster parents, we are each slowly coming out of our shells; foster mom says I am doing really good and just want to belong and be loved. I am an Australian Shepherd, about 2 years old and I weigh right at 33lbs. I have gotten along with the dogs I have met but don't interact a lot with them as I prefer my person; I haven't bothered the cats I've encountered. I have been doing pretty good in my crate without accidents, barking or tearing up of any bedding, and while I will go in when asked when there are treats or food inside, I would prefer to be out with you. I do love my food and take treats gently which will be really helpful if you want to do any more training with me. I do good on leash especially once I have learned I can trust you, but if it means I get to be with you I will definitely work harder on that. If you would like to meet me, please fill out an application which can be found at http://www.bcaaofnj.org.
