My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

On a hot, sweltering summer day in Texas, a stunning 3-year-old Staffordshire Terrier named Amelia stopped traffic, seemingly begging for help. As cars began to back up, one of our dedicated volunteers found herself stopped in the street. Curious about what was happening, she opened her door, and to her surprise, Amelia trotted around the front of her car, sized her up as safe, and jumped right in! This spontaneous leap marked the beginning of Amelia’s new journey.

Amelia’s past was likely anything but easy. We suspect she may have been a victim of a backyard breeding operation, abandoned and left to fend for herself when she was no longer wanted. Yet, despite this challenging history, Amelia’s gentle spirit shines with hope and a longing for connection.

This sweet girl thrives in the company of other dogs and is searching for a home where she can feel safe and secure. Though she can be timid around new people and may take time to adjust, once she learns to trust you, she transforms into a true “snuggler deluxe”! There’s nothing she loves more than curling up beside her person, soaking in all the warmth and affection she truly deserves.

Amelia is searching for a very special owner who understands her timid nature and is willing to provide a safe environment filled with the patience, love, and support she needs to flourish. She is a work in progress, but with the right adopter by her side, she will undoubtedly blossom into the loving companion she was always meant to be.

With her captivating golden eyes, Amelia is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm-negative, microchipped, and in excellent health. She’s already a pro-at-home life—great indoors, excelling in her crate, and using a doggie door like a champ! Plus, she adores car rides, making her an excellent traveling companion for your next adventure.

If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a beautiful soul who will fill your life with affection, Amelia is waiting for you! Embrace the opportunity to be her forever family and experience the joy of watching her shine!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We do our best to match up potential adopters with just the right pet as we want to ensure a lifelong placement for the rescued animal. Our adoption process includes an initial application, with home visit, reference and vet checks. If the match is a good one, we then have an adoption contract that is executed. We have a commitment not only to our adopted dogs, but also to the families that adopt them, and we are always available to help with the transition to a new home. We check in during the first few weeks to answer any questions or help with any issues - or to just give you someone to brag to about your new baby. We can't hear that too much!

More about this rescue

Shelter2Rescue Coalition is an all-volunteer rescue organization dedicated to the safe-rehoming of shelter animals. We started as a rescue facilitation organization, helping rural shelters publicize their at-risk dogs, thereby dramatically reducing the need to euthanize for space. Then, as we worked with more shelters, it became very apparent that if we could just buy the dogs up for euthanasia just a little more time, you could save even more lives. The 72-hour hold limit at most shelters just wasn't enough for most dogs to get out. Therefore, we expanded and built partnerships with boarding facilities, transport organizations and other nationwide rescues in order to be able to provide a temporary safe haven for dogs out of time. We have now expanded Shelter2Rescue Coalition to include our own adoption program. Since June 2007, through facilitation and adoption, Shelter2Rescue Coalition volunteers have saved over 2000 dogs and cats.
