My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sex: Female

Breed: German Shepherd

Estimated Date of Birth : 04/24/2024

What happens when shy shutdown dogs are given a chance? We can promise you’re going to see a whole new dog! This was Reina’s story. From terrified and alone she’s now the life of the party. This sweet young girl just needed the right environment and time to decompress. Shepherds are often very sensitive dogs and in a shelter setting they can be completely overwhelmed. Overwhelmed means you see negative behaviors and not the dogs true personality. Reina just needed her chance and now that she’s got it what an amazing and spunky girl she is!

Almost 2 months, that’s how long Reina sat terrified in her shelter kennel. The noses, smells and activity never letting up. She could feel the desperation of the other dogs and as she felt that growing tension her own desperation grew. Shy dogs don’t do well in a shelter setting and with her breed she stood little chance of making it out alive. With no owners and no adoption interest she’s was euthanasia listed. She’d hit the limit of a sad life devoid of anything good. She desperately needed that good and with the last minute yes from an amazing foster family she finally got the good she’d been waiting for.

Change for Reina didn’t happen immediately. She still didn’t trust even in the new environment. She needed time to decompress and she needed time to feel safe. Once she did we saw a brand new dog! Reina loves other dogs. They really help her come out of her shell. She has a rough and rowdy play style that is loads of fun. Shes gaining more and more confidence daily and we know in the right home she’s going to be a ridiculously amazing adult dog. Reina’s future home should be committed to continued confidence building and include at least one other fun loving dog she can pal around with. She’s crate trained and her leash walking skills improve daily. With this 2nd chance Reina’s future is now incredibly bright. Want to be part of that future? Apply today!
