My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information.

Misu is on the At Risk list due to behavior. She is not thriving in the care center and is deteriorating in the Adoptions room. She is now displaying signs of [petting-induced aggression, boredom and frustration, overstimulation, etc.]. Due to her stress levels, it is in her best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. She would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give her plenty of time and space and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers.

My foster writes::
Misu is a cat with a mind of her own. She doesn't like to be petted but always walks beside you and sleeps in your bedsheets. She sometimes gets sassy and feels she's the owner of your house, but this is due to the insecurity and confidence that formed in her previous life. She appears in soft places like your bed and couch, quietly observing you while keeping her distance. She needs a patient, loving family member to make her realize that she can be safe and loved while staying with people.

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing.

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

My favorite pastime is being visually admired! Pet me with your eyes!

I love to be loved, but on my own terms! Let's brush up on some feline body language together!

I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.

Misu tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents who are well counseled on petting induced aggression.

A volunteer writes: We take our friends at their best and also at their not that best. Of course, we know we're all entitled to feel a bit down at times, and those down times are objectively not the best time to judge, which brings us to Misu's approach to the Care Center. Misu just isn't loving it here. It's not the place for her to shine and sparkle as she's meant to do. And though she's trying and this is perfectly ok, it also means I don't know her as well as I wish I did. Misu politely asked me for some time and space when I visited but tried to explain she's a little unsure about things at the moment. Misu is trying her best to find a patient family who will love and welcome her as she is.
