Here's what the humans have to say about me:
FLANAGAN is a beautiful, soft BLUE BI-COLOR RAGDOLL who was purchased from a breeder at 4 months of age and recently surrendered by his owner at 3 years of age. He is a long & tall cat, weighs 9 lbs, is current on vaccinations, FIV/FeLV negative, has his claws, and is microchipped.
Flanagan arrived with a urinary blockage and was admitted to the University of IL Vet School for emergency treatments to save his life. He healed completely and has never had a recurrence of symptoms! You can search SPCR’s Facebook page for Flanagan to find previous postings of his journey.
Besides healing physically, Flanagan has also been healing emotionally. He has come a long way from hiding under and behind furniture to instead be sitting on top of and above furniture. He moves silently through the house and jumps effortlessly to high places. He enjoys tall cat towers, high ledges, and to sit on wide windowsills to watch and listen to the birds. Flanagan’s favorite toy is DaBird which was his catalyst to interact with humans in a positive way. You might even say it is his pacifier as it comforts him like a baby. He also enjoys crinkle balls and catnip toys.
Flanagan continues to develop more confidence every week. He has grown comfortable playing chase with a female cat in the home and socializing with the other cats to calmly discuss what they each like and don’t like. He gets the zoomies every morning, either with or without his fluffy partner, where he bunches up and then gallops room to room. Flanagan uses sisal scratching posts, but really enjoys the Waterhog rugs in front of every external door. He has proven the rugs are indestructible. Flanagan no longer hides as he makes full use of the entire house…exploring beyond every open door.
Flanagan’s urinary block was not due to crystals or stones, rather it was a mucous block which is caused by stress. It will be imperative that Flanagan be adopted into a permanent home similar to his foster home where there are no dogs and no children. He is special needs because he will require prescription dry food as well he will always need wet food to help flush his urinary tract.
