Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lone Ranger came to us as an owner surrender due to his medical needs. We first believed he has swimmers syndrome, but are currently working through a myriad of potential contributing factors that might be affecting his mobility. At this time, Lone Ranger is available as a foster to adopt while we work though his medical issues.
He is a typical happy, playful GSD puppy who would greatly benefit from a home where he can build his muscle tone and help learn how to navigate the word with his mobility constraints. Lone Ranger likes to play with other dogs, but can get frustrated at times so he would do best with a dog capable of healthy corrections or very patient with a big, goofy, awkward puppy. We would love nothing more than to get this sweet boy into a home where he can become a beloved family member.
All of our animals are spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped, heartworm tested, receive prevention while in our care, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at sftsrescue.org/available-dogs

The minimum requirements for adoption are:
*Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
*SFTS will verify home ownership. If renting, Landlord
approval is needed.
*ALL pets in the home must be altered, up to date on
vaccinations, and seen for regular check-ups.
*Out of state applicants are welcome, but must come to
meet and pick-up the animal. We do not ship animals.
We encourage anyone interested in adopting within the next six months to fill out a general application and get pre-approved. To fill out a general application, fill out the adoption application and make sure to indicate if you are interested in a cat or dog. When you are pre-approved the adoption process is quicker and easier.
We process the applications as they are submitted. If several applications are received for the same animal, we choose the applicant based on the best fit for the animal.
It typically takes 3 days to process an application. We prefer to contact you via email, so check your spam/junk mail folder if you haven't heard back from us.
If there is a waiting list for a particular animal we will call the next best fit candidate if our call is not returned within a few days.
Adult Dogs (over 1 year of age) - $380- $500
Puppies (under 1 year of age) - $400- $600
$25 of the adoption fee for both adult dogs and puppies
will be refunded to the adopter after you submit proof of
a completed training class within 4 months of adoption.

More about this rescue
Shelter From the Storm Animal Rescue, Inc. was form in 2005 by Allison Davies in response to the overwhelming amount of animals being euthanized in area shelters. Shelter From The Storm is an all breed cat and dog rescue and focuses on alleviating overcrowding in shelters and helping adoptable/treatable animals.
Many of our pets are placed into a home environment with a suitable foster home. Here they begin basic training, receive socialization, and learn what it's like to live in a home. We also attend to their medical needs including vaccinations, heartworm testing, feline leukemia/FIV testing, deworming, and flea/tick prevention.
In 2008, in furtherance of its mission, Spay Me! Clinic (now Wisconsin Community Veterinary Center) was opened. At the beginning, surgeries were performed once a week and gradually expanded to six days a week by the end of 2009.
Wisconsin Community Veterinary Center is open to the public, but also extends a helping hand to other rescues and shelters by offering spay/neuter services at a lower cost. Our veterinarians and staff have become skilled in high volume spay/neuter procedures and continue to expand their skill set. Additional procedures have gradually been added and now include dentals, amputations, foreign object removals, and ACL repairs, to name a few.
Our mission statement:
Shelter from the Storm is a Madison, WI based non-profit, all breed dog and cat rescue whose mission is to reduce the euthanasia rate of healthy and adoptable animals and to improve the lives of companion animals.
We do this by:
* Finding permanent home for animals in need
* Providing support to communities who do not have
access to humane organizations
* Educating the public on responsible pet ownership
* Providing access to affordable spay, neuter and
veterinary care.
