ARTEMIS NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:  Artemis       Best Guess for Breed:   Terrier and bulldog mix

Best Guess for Age:   4 years as of October 2024       Gender:  Female

Approximate Weight:  39 lbs

Gets Along With:Other dogs~! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested

Currently Living At: Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride after recovering from heartworm treatment.

Special Adoption Considerations: Artemis is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.

We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!

Artemis is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweetie, through no fault of her own, landed in the shelter. And she just wants to be out, to have her own humans once again. Shelter staff describe her as 'short and wiggly' and that's basically her in a nutshell - super cute, super loving, super happy. She's ready for those sniffy walks by your side - and those full body snugs!

Whoever adopts this short and wiggly girl is gonna get a smile on their face every time they look at this face. And then get their lap - and their heart - warmed every time she lands on them for wiggly cuddles. What do you say? Do you get to be that lucky?

What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
