HEART NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Heart Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd/retriever mix
Best Guess for Age: 4 months as of October 2024 SEX: female
Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 18lbs as of, October 13, 2024
Gets Along With: Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs and cats so long as they receive patience and proper training. We would be cautious placing her in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.
Currently Living at: D.C. area foster home
Special Adoption Considerations: When Heart arrived in the shelter, she was very scared and shut down. However, she has been making great strides. We think Heart would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to continue to build confidence.
Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.
Heart is Looking For: Hiya! Me and my siblings (Hulk, Heart, Honeybee, and Hanna) have enjoyed our puppy pile. But now we're ready to split up and head off to our own forever homes! We've listed our strengths so we know what we have to offer to our new humans and I have this: Adoring gazes, snuggles, the ability to make you smile and laugh, and lots and lots of love and loyal companionship for all my days! In exchange I ask for snuggles and play time and opportunities to explore my new neighborhood - the local parks - and the world with you.
What do you say? Does that sound like a fair trade to you?
What My Foster Says About Me: Heart is a sweet and shy puppy who’s on a heartfelt journey to build her confidence. Each day, Heart is discovering the joys of trust and companionship. While she may take her time to warm up to new people and experiences, she’s making steady progress with the patient guidance of new friends. Her curiosity is slowly emerging, and with each little step, she’s beginning to explore her surroundings and embrace new adventures. With time, patience, and a sprinkle of affection, Heart is destined to become a loyal and loving companion.
Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.
Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered. As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than December 30, 2024. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.
Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
