KYANI NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Kyani Best Guess for Breed: Beagle and terrier mix
Best Guess for Age: 7 months as of September 2024 SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 17 lbs as of 9/7/24; she is still growing!
Gets Along With: Kyani does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog due to her shyness. We would be cautious placing her in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.
We have tested her with some of the cats at the shelter, and she did not seem particularly interested in chasing or pouncing on the cat. While this is a positive sign that she could live with a cat, she has not done so to our knowledge. If you have cats in your home, we are happy to discuss with you how to best introduce a new pup to your pack!
Currently Living at: DC area foster home.
Special adoption considerations: Kyani was very shy and scared when she arrived in her Puerto Rico shelter. Dogs from Puerto Rico already have a huge adjustment to make when they arrive in the DC area, and with Kyani's shyness, she will need extra patient and loving adopters who understand she will need support to acclimate to her new environment. She needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog who will help show her how to dog.
Kyani is Looking For: Her forever home! This sweet girl is shy and hadn't seen enough of the world when she arrived in a shelter in Puerto Rico. She wants nothing more than to trot through the world with all the confidence of a well-loved dog. Long sniffy walks, romps in the parks, all the adventures her humans can dream up - that is what she wants most of all. She has so many adoring gazes, so much love to offer her family. What do you say? Are you the soft landing Kyani needs? Are you the one who will get the most amazing, most loyal companion in return?
What My Foster Says About Me: Kyani is a sweet and affectionate little girl! She's very happy to sit right next to me or on my lap. She is a bit shy and scared because she just got here from Puerto Rico, but she's getting braver each day. She loves cuddling up to my dogs and going for walks with them! Kyani loves toys, and her duck toy is her favorite!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
