My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Kallie Brennan (kallieb@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Mamma Mia!! Help me find a new home!!

MIA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Come meet Mia and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Nov. 17th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Falls Church (6100 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)!

Name:   Mia         Best Guess for Breed:   Terrier/Shepherd Mix

Best Guess for Age:   1 year as of 9/17/24         SEX:    Female

Approximate Weight:   32lbs

Gets Along With:    Other dogs! We haven't seen Mia with kids or cats, but she can be tested.

Special Adoption Considerations: When Mia arrived in the shelter, she  was very scared and shut down. However, she has been making great strides. We think Mia would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to continue to build confidence.

Currently Living at:   DC area foster home

Mia is Looking For:   Meet Mia, Your New Paw-some Pal from Puerto Rico! Mia is a 1-year-old black beauty who’s made the journey from the sunny beaches of Puerto Rico to the nation’s capital in search of her fur-ever home. With her wagging tail and puppy-dog eyes, she’s ready to steal your heart in a heartbeat! Looking for a pup to join you on adventures to the dog park or hikes in Rock Creek Park? Mia is your gal! She's a young pup full of energy and ready for love! Are you ready to give Mia a paws-itively amazing forever home?  Adopt Mia and let the adventures begin!

What My Foster Says About Me:   First of all she is super sweet, listens well, and loves affection. She did great on her walks, didn't seem bothered by sounds or squirrels and was happy to say hi to passerby's including small kids. She likes the outdoors and likes to explore and sniff. She is food motivated, and loves to play with toys, and happily chases after a bouncy ball although she doesn't bring it back. She adjusted quickly in our home and pretty much settled right in.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
