PADMA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Padma Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and Heeler/Cattle Dog mix
Best Guess for Age: 8 months as of Sept. 2024 SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 33 lbs - will have some more growing to do!
Gets Along With: Other dogs! Padma has lived with kids in foster care and had done well. We have tested Padma with some of the cats at the shelter, and she did not seem particularly interested in chasing or pouncing on the cat. While this is a positive sign that Padma could live with a cat, she has not done so to our knowledge. If you have cats in your home, we are happy to discuss with you how to best introduce a new pup to your pack!
Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Special adoption considerations: Because Padma is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing Padma in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.
Padma is Looking For:
Meet Padma, an 8-month-old shepherd/heeler mix with a stunning tricolor coat! She is one of a litter of four - Padma, Panda, Patty, Peeps - who all came up from a Puerto Rico Shelter to find their forever homes here. Padma is a sweet and energetic pup who loves to explore and play. Her unique mix of breeds makes her both intelligent and eager to please, perfect for an active family or individual looking for a loyal companion. Whether she’s playing with toys in the backyard or curling up by your side, Padma is always ready to share her love and joy.
Like many dogs from her shelter in Puerto Rico, Padma might feel a bit unsure when she first arrives in the bustling city of Washington, D.C. With a little patience and understanding, she'll quickly adapt and blossom in her new surroundings. If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate pup who’s ready to bond and explore the world with you, Padma is the perfect match. Come meet her and discover the joy she can bring to your home!
What My Foster Says About Me: She has been coming out of her shell even more on walks with me, playing with our older dog, and is super sweet/gentle with my kids - doesn't seem as scared of them as she is with big people (my husband in particular). She's also done amazing with housetraining - only 1 accident the entire time she's been with us!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog .
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
