SOFIA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Sofia Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and terrier mix
Guess for Age: 10 months as of September 2024 Gender: Female
Approximate Weight: 40 lbs as of 9/7/24; might have a bit more to grow!
Gets Along With: Other dogs! Sofia has not been seen with cats or kids but can be tested.
Currently Living At: DC area foster home.
Special Adoption Considerations: After being rescued from the streets, she was very scared and shut down. However, she has been making great strides. We think Sofia would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to continue to build confidence.
Sofia is Looking For: A forever family to call her own! She would love to begin her puppy era enjoying long walks, trips to the dog park, and going on new adventures with her people. Because she is still very much a puppy, Sofia would enjoy showing her family how smart she is by graduating with honors from training! With the right amount of structure and love, Sofia will be the perfect companion and addition to the right family.
What My Foster Says About Me: Sofiais an absolute lovebug and fun to be around. Wants to play/show love, but not overwhelming, and is happy to entertain herself. Very food/treat driven! Quick to learn boundaries.

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
