My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Chandler Jaffe (chandler.jaffe@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet girl ISO fresh start and love!

SUSIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Susie         Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and terrier mix

Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of November 2024       SEX:   Female

Approximate Weight:  22 lbs as of 9/7/24; she might have a bit more to grow!

Gets Along With:  Susie does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested. We would be cautious placing her in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.

Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.

Special adoption considerations:  Because Susie is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing Susie in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.

Susie is Looking For:   Hiya! I'm Susie. I hail from a Puerto Rico shelter, where I didn't get to see enough of the world. I'm not long out of puppyhood and I want my own humans for long sniffy walks and romps in the park and all the adventures they can dream up.

What My Foster Says About Me:   Susie is a very sweet girl with a bit of a shy side - she needs some time to open up to other people. She is enjoying learning the ropes from the other dogs in her foster home and follows their lead. Susie loves to cuddle and play - wrestling and chase is her favorite. She loves mealtime and gets adorably excited for her food! She's great in the car and is working on crate training. All in all, Susie is an adorable, sweet little angel who deserves the best forever home!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
