My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tick: Your Future Best Friend!

Tick is a charming 1-year-old mix, likely a blend of lab and husky, and she’s ready to find her forever home! Originally selected to be a service dog for a Veteran, Tick has recently shown progress with her hearing and is now able to hear some sounds. However, due to her partial deafness and her spirited personality, we believe she would thrive better as a family pet rather than a service dog.

Energetic and Affectionate
Tick is full of life and loves to play! She gets plenty of exercise running and wrestling with my four other dogs on our 8-acre training and boarding facility. While she’s generally easygoing, she does need regular physical activity; otherwise, she might resort to chewing on household items. We want to ensure that her new family can meet her exercise needs to keep her happy and engaged.

Training and Skills
Tick has a solid foundation in basic commands. She knows how to sit, lie down, stay, and go to her designated place. She’s crate-trained, housebroken, and has great recall—especially when not distracted by her best friend! She enjoys exploring the farm and is socialized with other dogs and kids.

A Few Quirks
Tick loves to give hugs, wrapping her paws around those she adores. While this is endearing, she can be a bit jumpy with her excitement. Additionally, due to her chewing tendencies, it’s essential to provide her with plenty of chew toys to keep her occupied and prevent her from turning to less appropriate items.

Ideal Home
Having primarily lived in a country setting, Tick would do best in a similar environment where she can explore and be active. She has visited urban areas but tends to get a little anxious when not in a structured setting.

Health and Care
Tick is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and follows a consistent deworming schedule. She truly loves attention and companionship, making her a fantastic candidate for a therapy dog or a devoted family pet.

If you are interested in Tick, please fill out an application on our website and a volunteer will be in touch.  https://foreverfido.org/adoptable-dogs/

Our adoption fee also covers post-adoption support, discounted classes, boarding and daycare.  Please see our adoptable dogs page for more information.

Please note, Tick is only eligible to Veterans and her fee is waived to a Veteran due to her vetting costs being paid for by sponsorships.

****Forever Fido Puppy Rescue is located near Rochester, MN. We will not ship dogs and a Meet & Greet with the dog you are interested in is required to be done in person.****

Additional adoption info

The dogs in our care will be adopted out with an updated vet exam, they will be up to date on their rabies (if of age), and DHPP. All dogs will also be microchipped and dewormed. If they are of age, they will also be altered. We do not do pediatric spays or neuters so a deposit is required at the time of adoption, once the dog is altered, the deposit will be returned.

Due to the American Veterinary Medical Association's recommendation to not spay/neuter dogs under 6 or 12 months depending on breed and our vets recommendation. Large-breed puppies under 6-months will not be altered prior to adoption but do require a deposit that will be returned once your dog is altered. Small breed and adults that are 6-months or older, will be done prior to adoption.

During the time spent at Forever Fido, all dogs will be socialized with many confident and social dogs of all ages, safely interact with kids of many ages, appropriately meet a variety of humans, start potty and crate training, and begin basic puppy manners including impulse control.
