My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Alice has been such a joy to have around. She is a funny, happy, couch potato. You wouldn't believe she is 8 years old with how she loves to play with her toys! Fetch is her favorite game. She plays for a bit then wants to nap by your side. She is a calm steady presence. Low energy and polite. She loves people. And is generally uninterested in cats or other dogs. She doesn't mind them, she just doesn't go out of her way to visit them. I have not heard Alice bark, but man can she snort up a storm. She has not had any potty accidents and shows no signs of resource guarding. She is generally all around the perfect potatato. She does have a front foot deformity that doesn't inhibit her from walking or running. It does make stairs a bit of a challenge. She may need help getting down steps occasionally. Come meet Alice, I promise she will steal your heart.

To submit an application, you will need to create an AnimalsFirst account. Please write down the username and password that you create.

Home Check

Home visits are being done virtually due to Covid.

3.
Meet the Pet

The majority of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. Fosters will contact you to schedule a meeting with you and your dog.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

Contracts will be signed through your AnimalsFirst account. Please have your login information prior to meeting the dog.

5.
Pay Fee

Payment will be made through your AnimalsFirst account. Please have your login information prior to meeting the dog.

6.
Take the Pet Home

Don't forget an adoption picture! We like to post adoption pictures to our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Go meet their pets

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
