My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kuma !!
This big headed lover boy is such a good dog. He has been so mistreated prior to coming to us yet he still loves everyone he meets. We just adore him. Don’t let his looks scare you!! He is a huge sweetheart.
Poor guy was attacked by other dogs and when receiving medical attention for his wounds they found older scarring that looked like this wasn’t the first time. He was placed in a foster home through the shelter where despite his past he lived with many other dogs and still loves them. He ended up with some new wounds from the fosters other dogs while there but has healed up and is doing great.
Thanks to an awesome foster within our group we were able to pull him into rescue where he is now safe, happy, and thriving. He is really coming out of his shell and is such a happy boy.
Kuma is an approx. 2 year old, male American bully/ Staffordshire terrier/ Bully breed type mix. He weighs 57 pounds but is super short and compact. He looks so much smaller but is a stocky solid guy.
He has been neutered, is up to date on vaccines and is microchipped. He is heartworm negative.
Kuma was an instant favorite around here. He loves everyone he meets and seems like he has no idea what a stranger is. He is big and strong but is also a huge softie with so much love to give. He thinks he’s a lap dog and loves to cuddle.
He has been perfect with his potty training and will go to the back door and wait when he needs to go out. He rides great in the car and is eager to jump in and go for a ride. Sometimes he needs a little help with his hind end to get into taller vehicles due to his shorter body build. He is very strong on the leash when he sees a squirrel. Otherwise he does pretty good but would need a strong owner if leash walking will be a regular occurrence. Having a fenced yard would be best as the leash pulling is really his only negative training issue. He’s very easily managed otherwise.
Kuma is crate trained but does not yet go in on his own. He broke out of his wire crate once however we discovered that a French fry was dropped near his crate and he just really had to have it LOL. He has not tried to escape his crate since. He may like people food just a little too much. Despite his love of food he takes treats very gently. He has also had no issue sharing food, treats or toys with people or other dogs.
He has been amazing with all types and sizes of dogs. He loves to play with other dogs. Due to his strength another playful dog around his size would be great. He loves kids and does well with them however he still jumps up when he is excited and will mouth at hands and clothing to get attention. We think he would be best in a home with older kids that are bigger than he is. We do not think he would ever intentionally hurt anyone but small kids may be overwhelmed by him.
One of his favorite things to do is stare out the window and watch the birds and squirrels in the yard. He also LOVES to chase the squirrels from the yard. He would probably chase cats outside but we are not sure how he would do with them indoors as his foster does not have any. He seems to have a very gentle nature so he may okay with them.
Kuma loves to cuddle. He will sit with you forever to get all the pets and loving. He also has a hyper and playful side at times. When its play time he really hypes up and is all about it but in general he has a medium energy leve.
This sweet boy deserves the best home. Where he can be safe, loved and spoiled. He has been through a lot but he is ready to put it all behind him. If you are looking for a big block headed scarry looking sissy boy then you have found the right guy!!
