Ellie is a young Great Pyrenees who was surrendered to a shelter because her people were moving and would not take her with them. She is brand new to GRRAND so we are still learning about her, but we would love to get her into a foster home ASAP. We will update as we learn more, but if you would like to meet Ellie, we do know that she is looking for a home with a fenced in yard, as the Great Pyrenees breed love nothing more than to hang out in the yard, patrol a little here and there and watch the world go by. Great Pyrs and Goldens are not the same, and we suggest you do some research to find out their breed similiarities and differences before applying. If you are a Great Pyrenees lover, you will know their delightful stubborness is what makes them so fun and challenging just the same!! If you are not familiar with the breed, to know the Great Pyr is to LOVE the Great Pyr!

GRRAND requires that the dog is returned if it doesn't work out or if circumstances change and the owner cannot keep the dog. Also, there is a follow-up team that will contact the adopter after the adoption to assist with any questions.

More about this rescue

Early in 1994, members of the Greater Louisville Golden Retriever Club began to see the need for an organization to rehabilitate and find homes for displaced and abused Golden Retrievers. A number of folks in this club began organizing an ad hoc rescue group. As the number of rescues increased over a period of months, this “wet behind the ears” group came up with a name and in 1996, incorporated the organization now known as Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs (GRRAND). The rest, as they say, is history!
