My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Edith, the brave little kitten who was found all alone in a colony, but she's proven to be a fighter! This black and white beauty came to us injured, but with plenty of love and care, she's healing wonderfully.
Now at 11-months old, Edith is showing her sweet personality to all the volunteers, melting hearts with every purr and cuddle. She's ready to leave her rough past behind and start a new chapter in a loving home. Could it be yours? 🖤🤍
Our cat rooms are open 7 days a week from 12p-4:30p for you to come in and meet any of our adoptable cats🐾 We look forward to seeing you!

More about this shelter

The Associated Humane Societies rescues stray and homeless animals, both domestic and wildlife, providing quality care and sanctuary until loving homes can be found. As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.

For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused, or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.

The Society is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and we take pride in our devotion to the thousands of animals that come through our doors looking for a better life.

Please visit our website AHSCares.org for additional information.
