My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sweet Caroline!

Caroline is a friendly 55 lb gorgeous gal that is about 1 year & 9 months old. Google image matched her as a Catahoula Leopard dog, but who knows what else is in her DNA? She may even have some English Pointer, but we think she is 100% sweetness.

Caroline is slightly shy around new people, but warms up quickly. She is never aggressive with people at all but can be quite enthusiastic and clumsy in her love once she has given her approval. She needs a family who isn;t easily swept off their feet by 'sneak attacks of love.' She loves to play with dogs and has an enthusiastic playstyle. Caroline would love a playmate with a similar style. She plays with dogs that want to be played with and leaves the ones that don't want to play alone. Her fav game is tug o war! Oh yeah, she LOVES CATS. Check out great video of her gently playing with one of them. She would enjoy a home with a fenced in yard as she likes to be outside.

Caroline isn't a fan of the crate, but has been fine being left out in the living room when her foster family goes out. No destructiveness at all. She isn't a big fan of the leash, but having a canine buddy along on her leashed walks really helps her be relaxed while exploring new environments and distractions. She is quiet in the car and likes to stand in the back seat.

Caroline did have a leg break when she was younger that was not taken care of at the time, so her back legs stick out when she lays down. It obviously does not prevent her from playing and enjoying life. We have another video of her playing with a neighbor dog and you hardly notice it.

If you think Sweet Caroline is the dog for you, apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Our adoption process takes several steps and cannot be completed in one day. All of our volunteers work full time and assist the rescue in their spare time. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

* Applicants must be willing to make a ten plus year commitment to their new family member.

* Applicants must commit to daily exercise, walks, trips to the dog park or play in the back yard. A well exercised dog is a happy well behaved dog!

* Applicants living in a rental property must provide proof of pet policy from landlord.

* Applicants must provide a veterinarian reference and if there are existing dogs in the household. All pets must be spayed/neutered and current on all shots and heartworm medication.

*Please allow at least a 7-14 day adjustment period for your new dog. Rescue dogs go thru a lot of changes and need a few days to get used to their new surroundings and adjust. Adopting a dog should be a serious commitment, so please be willing to work out the kinks. Our dogs aren't perfect but with proper training and guidance they make awesome, loving pets.

*Our adoption fees vary based on the age and medical needs of the dogs.
