My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Dodger was brought in by his previous owner on June 4, 2024.

Why Dodger is the one for you:
Meet Dodger! This adorable pup takes some time to warm up to new people and situations, but once he feels comfortable, his infectious smile is all yours! Dodger is an active boy and is looking for somebody to go on adventures with. He isn't the biggest fan of being left alone, and much prefers having someone around to keep him company. Dodger has a positive history with other dogs, but isn't a fan of sharing his food. This behavior is referred to as resource guarding and will need to be managed (feeding separated by a barrier, not leaving edible items out). This smart boy is bilingual, is crate trained, knows how to "sit" and would love to learn new tricks! Due to his "stranger danger," Dodger requires a patient family without young children (under 10). All household members must be present to meet this sweet boy. If you're ready to give Dodger the loving family he deserves, head over to our Oceanside campus today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
