My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Wade! I have a special quirk and would require an adopter willing to put extra time and effort into my care. I have Cerebellar Hypoplasia or CH for short! Cerebellar Hypoplasia occurs when the cerebellum, the part of the brain which controls fine motor skills and coordination, is not completely mature at birth. It is a disorder found in cats and dogs which causes jerky movements, tremors, and generally uncoordinated motion. CH in cats is non-progressive, meaning it does not get worse with age. Despite this disorder, I'll have a normal life expectancy and am very affectionate, sweet, and loving! I will return the extra care I need with an intense love for and bond with my adoptive family!

❤️ Wade has special needs due to having CH and will require extra accommodations in his new home

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Entry to the shelter is currently limited, and walk-ins are not permitted for general pet viewing. Masks are currently optional.

View our Available Pets page and select a few that you would like to meet. Then download an Adoption Application and fill it out prior to visiting our shelter. Our adoption process is a walk-up and queue-based, first-come, first-served system. You will have a meet and greet with an Adoption Counselor to discuss your application, review information on the pets you would like to meet, and you will be introduced to the pet(s).If the Meet and Greet is a success, staff will complete your adoption paperwork to make it official! If your new family member is already spayed/neutered, they will go home with you right away!

More about this shelter

Kitsap Humane Society is a private, nonprofit animal shelter. We rescue and rehome over 6000 pets each year. Every dog or cat leaves our shelter spayed or neutered and with complete vaccines and a microchip. We have been caring for animals in need since 1908 and envision a time when all adoptable pets have loving homes.

We are extremely proud of our exceptionally high “lives saved” rate of over 96%. Through our active adoption, behavior, foster, transfer, and veterinary programs, we are able to rehome every adoptable animal that enters our facility. No animal is ever euthanized for lack of space.

In addition to caring for and adopting animals, we also provide spay/neuter services to low income residents of Kitsap County, and provide Animal Rescue and Enforcement services to our surrounding municipalities.
