My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rue is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. She is apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, she tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people, we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.

A volunteer writes: Sometimes things are so easy and we can share and talk and be, but other times we need a friend who understands that doing things on our own time is what helps us out of our shells. Meet Rue. Sleeping in her cubby and happily tucked behind her bed, Rue began kneading as soon as I opened the door. Curling herself into her circle to knead her bed, the air, and my hand, Rue wanted to be affectionate in her own way. Plus, she just really loves to knead those perfect little paws. We sat together for a bit and while Rue didn't come forward, there was no leaning into my arms or hopping onto my lap, I saw that we were quietly building a friendship that allowed us to meet each other where we were. Now, even though Rue took her time getting to know me, it's said that she really enjoys the company of other cats. Her previous family explained that she is social and outgoing when she's around other kitties and I can only imagine what a joy that is to see. We hope you'll come meet the very lovely Rue and give her a chance to shine.

My foster writes: Hello! My name is Rue and I would love for my forever home to be with you! I work tirelessly kneading blankets and pillows and even your stomach while you're lying down. When I'm not working, I love to curl up for a good nap - sometimes even under the covers! I may be a bit shy when you first meet me, but don't worry; I warm up very quickly and will be giving you affectionate licks in no time.
