My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Shelby!

Hi there! My name is Shelby, and I'm a 2-year-old female Staffie/Pit/Boxer mix rescued from Colorado. If I do say so myself, I'm a pretty awesome girl! I love staying active, eating right, and making sure I get plenty of rest—napping is definitely my favorite pastime.

I enjoy going on long walks and visiting dog parks where I can meet new friends. Though I’m friendly, I’m a little selective with who I play with. I’m more into sniffing around and playing with my ball. I’m great at catch, fetch, and I always bring the ball back—unlike some other dogs! I also love showing off my jumps; just throw the ball right, and you’ll be amazed at how high I can leap.

I like to stick close to my pack because wandering off can be a bit risky. If you need me or want to see me, just give a holler, and I’ll come running. After a day of fun, I’m all about cuddling up on the couch or chewing on one of my favorite toys. And if you want to sleep in, I’m totally cool with that—as long as I get to snuggle up in bed with you.

The reason I’m looking for a new home is that things have changed. I used to have a yard, a quiet neighborhood, and a space that felt like my own. I had two cat buddies and dog cousins I’d visit and wrestle with, so I’m totally fine sharing my home with other animals. But now, I’m in a busy downtown condo, and the constant noise and crowds are really stressing me out. I’m a quiet dog who loves peace, and I miss having a private yard where I can relax.

I’m hoping to find a calmer environment, ideally with a yard, where I can get back to being my best self. If you think we could be a good match, I’d love to meet you! We could hang out at my small dog park, and you’re welcome to bring your other pets or kids to say hello. Thanks for checking out my profile—I can’t wait to meet you!

Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 100-mile radius of Minneapolis. If you are interested in meeting Shelby, please go to our website and fill out a dog application. Shelby is spayed and microchipped as part of our adoption fee.
