My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: Believed to be 2021

Lola and Sunshine are a bonded pair of female Budgies that will only be adopted together.

These two are a sweet pair who in their previous home were kept in their cage and fed a seed diet. Since coming into their foster home they have been upgraded to a larger cage and are given the opportunity to have out of cage time.

In just a week with their foster family, they have quickly switched from seed to a healthy diet that is half pellet and half a fresh veggie/grain mix. They get millet as a treat, and take it from the foster family's hands.

Their foster mom expects that they will be hand-tame in no time at this rate! They also have both shown they are strong flyers despite not having out of cage time to explore in their last home.

Lola seems sweeter and more inclined to bond with humans, but Sunshine is the clown of the two, entertaining the family to no end with her silly hopping around and funny noises.

Some back story on them; they were purchased at a pet store two years ago by their former guardian. But Lola has a leg band with the number '17 marked on it. Which coud be the year she was hatched or may have some other meaning. Lola has laid many eggs in the past, but we hope this will slow down significantly, or stop altogether.

They have been disease tested for psittacosis and PBFD>

Lola and Sunshine are being fostered in Cherry Hill, NJ and will only be adopted  to a forever home within driving distance.  We will NOT ship our birds.

For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA - We do not have a central location.

Lola and Sunshine are living in a volunteer's private home; we only allow approved applicants to make visits. If interested in adopting these two, please visit our website ftlob.rescuegroups.org. Please read our adoption policies & procedures and complete an adoption application.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
