My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Those eyes! That face! How on earth could anyone resist a boy like Ira we will never know but the good news is you don't have to resist, because this boy is looking for a home just like yours! Ira is a puppy, lab come retriever mix who is about 22lbs now with room to grow. Ira has been the life of the party at the farm with all of his doggo friends. He is active, smart and ready to learn anything you have to teach! Ira isn't one to shy away from new things as he is pretty confident for a puppy and will therefore be open to experiencing, exploring and building the life you want with him moving forward. Large or small family, bring it on because Ira just knows that furever for him will bring people who love him and who he can love right back!

Recent Weekend Host commented: "Crate trained, did well with the blankets and towels in his crate. I covered it with a blanket when he was in it. He cried a little when we put him in and quickly went to sleep and slept till we opened his crate at 7:30" "Will walk on leash, and needs practice." "Doing well on house training, took out for walk every approximately every 2 hours." " Not a jumper. Did not jump on anyone. " "Can play fetch, loves his ball. Learning "Sit " "Very gentle with adults and our 7 year old " "He's very smart and will train quickly with praise, pets and small treats." "Took him to an outside place to eat and he was great, just laid at our feet and accepted attention from others and was fine with the other dog there."

Recent Weekend Host commented: "Great with all sizes of dog. Great with kids." "He is great on leash. He loves to leisurely walk, sniff, and roll in the grass." "Very calm and still during car rides, doesn't get startled easily by any sudden noises or moves." "Great with potty habits. Goes to the bathroom on his walks." "He sleeps quietly though out the night in his crate." "We didn't experience counter surfing behaviors, no chewing on furniture, training him is fairly straightforward, he likes squeaky toys, he's playful, he's quiet, he likes everyone, he's smart."

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
