My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

* 4 Little Paws is helping a Texas Animal Shelter by featuring a few wonderful dogs patiently waiting to find forever homes!

Meet Oso!

This life-sized teddy bear is the definition of a gentle giant and is adored by all who meet him! He’s 103 pounds of slow-moving, laid-back, gentle love and sweetness.

This oh so handsome and huggable guy wants nothing more than to be loved on by all the people. Oso craves human affection and becomes fast friends with anyone who will pet him, even kiddos! He loves being the center of attention and will happily lay beside you for as long as you are touching him. He greatly enjoys receiving hugs, cuddles, brushings, and smooches! Despite his size, he is incredibly easy to handle and is always polite when asking for attention. If multiple people are around and he wants more pets than he’s getting, he will rotate to every person for more lovies. He is an absolute charm on the leash with no pulling and typically follows along with his person. He is completely potty trained and will even bark at you to let you know if he really needs to go!

Oso may not have a ton of energy, but he has enough to romp around with other dogs for a few minutes each day. Obviously, he isn’t a fan of playing chase, but he will partake in a friendly game of wrestle. It’s adorable watching this big guy gleefully romp around with other dogs in his slow-motion version of getting the zoomies. He is gentle when playing and doesn’t get too rough since his low energy level doesn’t allow him to get carried away with play! This guy is such a friendly and easygoing guy that he even does well around cats! He is so unbothered by cats that he barely even acknowledges that they exist.

This guy definitely moves at his own pace and knows when he wants or doesn’t want to do something. Yes, the stubbornness can be strong with him! Although he is a very good boy with great manners, prepare to be ignored from time to time. He is never in a rush to go anywhere and you will always be on his time. Since he is slow going, he will make the perfect companion for someone living a slow-paced life with a ‘go with the flow’ attitude!

Oso didn’t have a good start in life and spent his entire four years as an outside dog. He was surrendered to animal control in horrible condition which suggests he had been neglected for quite some time. He was underweight, suffering from mange, and had hair loss and sores on more than half of his body. Thankfully, an amazing foster loved and nurtured him back to the healthy, handsome, and thriving boy he is today!

Oso is a 4 years 3 months old Saint Bernard and Great Pyrenees mix who weighs 103 pounds. He is neutered, microchipped, heartworm-negative, and up to date on all vaccines including monthly heartworm prevention!

* 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Additional adoption info

Please DO NOT apply unless the entire family / household is on board with adopting one of our dogs. We must receive an application for you to move forward in the process. Thoughtful direct emails are welcome and will be answered. However, an application is still a necessary step. We want to make sure we find our dogs a perfect fit with a family so both the dog and the family are happy. We keep our dogs with fosters once we get them out of shelters for a little bit to learn and understand their personalities. Our relationship with families doesn't stop at adoption! We are always available for any follow up questions and are happy to be a resource as you and your new pet settle into a routine.
