My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Scout`s foster family reports:

This beautiful little gal is bright, happy, bouncy, kissy and absolutely adorable. She’s extremely smart and already knows how to sit, sleeps through the night, working on “down” and crate training and doing fabulous with potty training! She LOVES other dogs and enjoys playing with her foster sisters daily, and she has been around horses as well. She has already charmed the socks off all the AAC staff and vets, and we know she would make a lucky family very happy.

Huskies are a very active breed, and we believe Scout would do best with a young, active couple or family. She`s a very busy girl, and we imagine she would do great as a running/hiking companion or playing with kiddo siblings of her own!

Scout is very intelligent - she is very inquisitive and food motivated. She listens very well to commands and learns quickly. Seriously, this spunky little gal is one in a million and we can`t wait to find her forever family!

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
