My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What my friends at ACC say about me:

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

I am a sweet, social, older gal, looking for the perfect forever home!

I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me.

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

Sophie accepts attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. We recommend that this cat go to an adult-only home.

With a slow and patient approach, I warm up and will show you what a sweet older lady I am.

A volunteer writes: Sophie is making the most of things here at the Care Center. Her and her best buddy Sweetie (210632) were brought to us when their person passed away, so we don't know too much about their history prior. Sophie is a little bit quieter than her sister, but still doing her best to be included. While I was petting the very sociable Sweetie, Sophie peeked her little head out of her cubby and appeared to weigh her options. Did she want to stay semi-hiding or come out and say hello? And if she were to say hello, how would that go? Slowly but surely, one paw and then another and Sophie was right by me. My heart will always go to anyone who is trying and was thrilled to watch her walk back and forth between her cubby and her condo, nuzzling my hand and looking for treats. It turns out, Sophie really loves pets and as she sat down in front of her sister for some neck scritches, I got a glimpse of the starry kitty inside. Sophie is a senior lady looking for a fresh start and we hope it'll be with you.
