My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Koko, a sweet senior Chihuahua looking for her forever home. Koko is a shy and timid girl who blossoms with a gentle and calm approach.

She would thrive in a calm and quiet household where she can feel safe and loved. She has shown fearful behaviour around men and would feel most comfortable in a home where her primary caregiver is a woman.

Koko has lived previously with other dogs, but would do well either on her own or with another senior dog that matches her size and energy levels.

If you're looking for a loyal companion to share your peaceful moments with, Koko could be the perfect addition to your family. Give this lovely senior girl the loving home she deserves!

Please note, Koko is currently in foster care. If you are interested in meeting Koko, submit an application today and staff members will reach out to arrange a meet!

More about this shelter

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
