For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
This helps North Texas Australian Shepherd Rescue with pet care costs.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**Meet Peanut: The Energetic Lovebug with a Big Heart**
Peanut has overcome so much in his young life and is now looking for a forever home. He came to us with *severe chemical burns*, which we believe were sustained from being used as a bait dog. Despite his past, Peanut is incredibly sweet and just wants to give and receive love. His boundless energy and affectionate nature are sure to bring joy to any home.
Peanut is *crate and potty trained* and gets along well with kids. His personality is as big as his energy, and he loves attention from everyone! This high-energy boy has no "off switch" and bounces from one activity to the next like a ping pong ball. Peanut could easily win gold in the sport of fetching—he’s a *pro at chasing and retrieving*. When he’s not playing, Peanut loves to cuddle and soak up all the affection he can get.
**Challenges to Keep in Mind:**
Peanut is still intact and has a habit of *lifting his leg indoors*, which we hope will improve after he’s neutered. His back is healing from burns, so using a belly band or harness is tricky right now.
Peanut can be *protective of his crate*, particularly around men, and may react aggressively if approached too closely. He requires someone who understands his need for space, especially near his crate or when being disciplined. Peanut responds best to *verbal commands*, not physical redirection.
This brave boy deserves a patient and understanding adopter who can help him continue his healing journey. If you’re ready for an energetic, loyal companion who just needs a little extra care, Peanut is waiting for you!
