My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Put Short Bio here: Meet Mahogany, aka Bentley, a 10-12 week old puppy rescued from a high-kill shelter in Georgia. While a bit timid and adjusting to his new life in NYC, he's gaining confidence quickly. He's very young and impressionable so a great age to train, socialize, and learn, and he catches on to training very quickly. Bentley sleeps comfortably in a playpen (even throughout the entire night) with no issues while we finalize his crate training, and is already being left alone for several periods throughout the day without any negative behavior other than some whining. Though indoor only, we're making use of my apartment's outdoor space so we can housebreak him and get him comfortable outdoors.
Fill out all below:
Personality & Characteristics:
My foster dog is good with: (Dogs, Kids, Cats)
My foster dog is: (Crate trained, House trained, Low shed) Bentley is progressing well with housetraining and crate training. He knows to look for the door when he has to do his business, and went from terrified to loving his crate in only 3 days.
3 Keywords for your pup:
Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 5, for now. Typical puppy behavior with periods of play followed by long naps.
Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Will whine if scared or put into his pen for a bit, calms down after a few minutes.
Walking Manners: Not yet leash trained but follows me well throughout my apartment building and is responsive to vocal commands.
Appetite: Good, using his 3 meals/day to our advantage to train him.
Does the following: (Gets car sick, nervous outside, has separation anxiety, hates the bath, none of the above): A little timid outside while adjusting to his new life. He does well alone even for periods of up to 3 hours. Tolerates the bath well.
Favorite Things: His blanket, chew toys, laying on the couch, tug of war, playing with my resident dog.
Commands/Tricks: Focusing on house breaking and crate training for now. Afterwards will be leash training, then basic commands like sit, down, stay.

ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs.

Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States
