Sadie is an 8 yo 16 lb. chocolate/liver female mini schnauzer looking for her forever home in PA, DE, MD, VA, or DC. (more pics in comments). She is a friendly, barky, playful, active dog who loves attention and is a lapdog. She is house-trained and crate trained. She likes playing with toys and fetching them.
She was spayed in rescue as well as having bladder stones removed. She will need to be on urinary prescription food the rest of her life to prevent the stones from reoccurring. She is microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines.
Sadie would do best in a townhome or single family home with a fenced yard. Children should be age 10 or older.
She does not get along with dogs living in the home, so should be an only dog.
Sadie's adopter will be required to take her through obedience training.

Rescue Schnauzers usually weigh between 15-25 pounds, they are up to date on shots, heartworm/Lyme tested and spayed/neutered prior to placement. We make reasonable efforts to evaluate the health and temperament of each dog, however we cannot make any guarantees.
We are not a shelter and do not have a central facility to visit our rescue schnauzers. All dogs are kept in foster homes located throughout the area we cover. PLEASE NOTE: We rescue schnauzers in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania. We can only accept applications from these areas. Our dogs then live in foster homes where they are socialized and evaluated until they are adopted into a permanent home.

Applications are reviewed, reference checks are completed and applicants are interviewed. The applicant who best suits the individual dog's needs is selected to adopt.
The process can take as little as several days or as long as several months (particularly if there are health issues involved). The average time from when a dog is placed in a foster home until it is adopted is 2-3 weeks.
An adoption contract must be signed for all adoptions and an adoption donation is required.
Please note that we can only consider those who live within a reasonable driving distance from us. We accept applications from the following areas: southeastern to central PA, all of MD, VA, DC, DE, and some parts of southern NJ. We cannot adopt to those in NY, northern Pennsylvania, northern NJ or to most areas of West Virginia. To adopt a dog in these or other areas, please go to our rescue links to find the group closer to you. If you have any questions about whether you are within our range, please check with Linda@schnauzerrescue.net before filling out the application.
