The adoption fee is waived for Philip, William, and ALL Desperate Housecats!

Philip and William are former community cats who were brought to AAC together, and who are very bonded. They are initially shy with people, which qualifies them as CACTUS CATS.

Currently living in a foster home, Philip and William have had time to adjust to their new environment and to feel safe. Now they are both very affectionate and like to be petted.

Philip and William are both so sweet. They love their catnip mice, looking out the window (feeling the breeze), napping, eating (of course), and sitting in the recliner with their foster mom (lots of purring).

We are a bonded pair of DHCs, and we have our own webpage!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
