While her name may be Ice Queen- she's anything but icy! Ice Queen is a warm and gentle lady, who is a bit shy at first but warms up with a kind human and some yummy treats. IQ was found as a stray dog in Philly and transported to the shelter, where she is now on the lookout for her forever family!
Ice Queen is now available for adoption and foster at ACCT Philly. You can meet her any day from 10am-6pm. Interested fosters should email foster@acctphilly.org.

Ice queen and Khloe K: https://youtu.be/gTZnvVDJWEs
Behavior:
Per volunteer 10/31: She is an affectionate girl that likes to get petted- she can be a little mouthy when she gets excited. She is easy on the leash and appears to get along well with other dogs.
Per staff 10/26:BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: Ice Queen
KNOWN HISTORY:
Owner surrender
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Ice Queen was laying on her bed and looked up with neutral eyes and got up with low wags. The handler crouched down and she came up and allowed overhead leashing.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls moderately - use harness if possible
HANDLING:
In the eval room, Ice Queen greeted everyone with a wagging tail and sniffed around. She allowed all handling and wiggled her body into the handlers. She does cute play bows and does the cutest zoomies. She does a little when riled up but understands when to stop when she is redirected. She takes treats nicely and sits very pretty. She is a canon ball of energy. She likes to wrap herself around your legs and zoom around so beware of her leash. She is a playful pup and loves all kinds of toys and play.
PLAY

TOYS:
Loves all toys
Volunteer noted 11/2: Took Ice Queen out to see how she's doing since coming back. She is the same Very Good Girl. Ice loves fetch and has endless energy. She's had training and knows not to jump, but sometimes she gets so excited she just barrels right into you, lol. Ice knows lots of commands and is super treat motivated. She LOVES to run but will eventually even out her pace on a long walk. We went to the track and she enjoyed watching for squirrels and investigating new smells.
10/25: Ice queen was adopted and returned after 1 week. Adopter stated issues with Ice queen being home alone. Breaking her objects, breaking cage door and breaking out and chewing her clothes/ Shoes.
Per staff 10/16: Took her out for a meet and she was super sweet. Wanted to play but also jumped up on the interested adopter to say hi and wanted pets and cuddles. Showed a lot of interest in the potential adopter. Also wanted to chew on sticks and eat plants. Was happy to run around. Seems housetrained as she peed and pooped outside.
Per day trip 10/8: Ice Queen is a sweet girl with striking, icy blue eyes. She's very well behaved and gentle on the leash (apart from the occasional squirrel sighting) and didn't have any trouble with the people, dogs, or bikers that we passed while on a long walk. She's also very calm in the car. Though she's not the most outgoing, Ice Queen gladly accepted my pets. When we returned to ACCT, she did get slightly reactive when a man approached her -- just a little bit of growling. Contrary to her name, Ice Queen made my heart melt!
Per staff 10/7: Was noted to be growling at men in the intake lobby when returning to shelter
Per staff 10/5: Does not appear to like men. Did a meet with a couple and she appeared scared and growled a bit towards the husband. she did well with the wife.
Per Day Trip 10/4/24:
Ice was perfect. Few notes: She was good in the car
Loves to chase squirrels and cats
Listens to sit, occasionally. But can hold a sit if you stay persistent.
Very trainable as she eventually picked up on "leave it
She let me pick her up with no issues.
She didn't bark at all.
I'm assuming her name is new as she didn't respond to it much.
She checked in with me during our walk and got closer to me when we passed people.
Per Volunteer 10/1/24:
She was sleeping in her kennel when I approached. She slowly got up and allowed me to leash very easily. Was very loose and calm. We walked outside and she was great on leash! Likes treats and took them super gently. She seems to know sit very well and had nice gentle manners. She was a very low energy gal with not much interest in toys that I saw. She is Super easy to handle overall! Took some pets from me but not overly affectionate on the first meeting. No issues going in or out.
Per Staff 9/30/24:
BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
KNOWN HISTORY:
Stray
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Ice Queen was sitting upright at the front of the kennel with wide eyes and a neutral body. She allowed for me to easily leash her and was very patient, just sitting at the front. No issues exiting or returning.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally, housebroken
HANDLING:
Ice Queen was timid in the room with me. She walked around exploring and then came over standing beside me and sniffing at my leg. She had wide neutral eyes, a low tail, and neutral body. She allowed me to pet her head and back without issue, but was sensitive about her ears and would whip her head away from me and shake if I touched them at all (they seem sensitive!). She allowed all other handling though without issue, but remained fairly neutral. After play she began to solicit more and loosen up! She took treats gently when offered and showed knowledge of sit. Remained calm when another staff member entered the room and gave wags when speaking to her

TOYS:
Perked up a lot with toys! Allowed me to take them directly from her and had great manners. A pro at fetch.
